Lightweight Partitions Having Improved Low Frequency Sound Insulations

چکیده

The sound insulations were measured of a range of single, double and triple leaf partitions. For the single leaf partitions, a staggered stud configuration was used. For the double and triple leaf partitions, the configuration of the boards was different from that in the conventional Camdens. At low frequencies, the partitions tested generally had higher sound insulations than comparable metal-framed Camdens. They also had higher sound insulations at low frequencies than comparable all-plasterboard partitions having the same numbers of layers of boards as in the metal-framed Camdens. The partitions will be suitable for use in studio constructions where lightweight partitions would previously have been ruled out on sound insulation grounds. This should enable considerable savings in construction costs.

Further Investigations of Partitions Having Built-in Acoustic Treatment

Laboratory measurements were made of the sound insulations and absorption coefficients of a range of metal-framed partitions having built-in acoustic treatment. The partitions were made using glass wool and gypsum boards. The sound insulations of the single leaf partitions having built-in acoustic treatment were considerably lower than those of comparable partitions made using mineral wool, gyp...

Active sound transmission control of a double-panel module using decoupled analog feedback control: experimental results.

Low-frequency sound transmission through passive lightweight partitions often renders them ineffective as means of sound isolation. As a result, researchers have investigated actively controlled lightweight partitions in an effort to remedy this problem. One promising approach involves active segmented partitions (ASPs), in which partitions are segmented into several distinctly controlled modul...

A double-panel active segmented partition module using decoupled analog feedback controllers: numerical model.

Low-frequency sound transmission has long plagued the sound isolation performance of lightweight partitions. Over the past 2 decades, researchers have investigated actively controlled structures to prevent sound transmission from a source space into a receiving space. An approach using active segmented partitions (ASPs) seeks to improve low-frequency sound isolation capabilities. An ASP is a pa...

Correlation Between the Acoustic and Cell Morphology of Polyurethane/Silica Nanocomposite Foams: Effect of Various Proportions of Silica at Low Frequency Region

Introduction: Reducing noise pollution has become an essential issue due to the increase in public concern and also social demands for a better lifestyle. Using sound absorption materials is a preferred method to reduce the noise pollution. Undesirable properties of pure polyurethane such as poor absorption of mechanical energy in narrow frequency ranges can be improved by providing polymeric n...
